CSAIL Lecture: AI Informing Art
Join doctoral students Divya Shanmugam and Jose Javier Gonzalez Ortiz from the MIT Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to discover more on the behind-the-scenes development of The End of Signature by Agnieszka Kurant.
This lecture will break down how their work with fellow doctoral student Katie Lewis and Professor John Guttag contributed to the latest addition of MIT's Public Art Collection.
About the Speakers
Divya Shanmugam is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. She studies the application of machine learning to issues in women's health, with a particular interest in modeling how social biases can seep into medical datasets. She completed her BS at MIT, majoring in computer science with a concentration in South Asian Studies. She likes to read and do crosswords in her free time.
Jose Javier Gonzalez Ortiz is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT working under the supervision of John Guttag. His research studies how to make current machine learning more computationally efficient and how to amortize training costs of deep learning models. At MIT, he co-organized Missing Semester, a lecture series on programming tools often left untaught in modern CS curriculums. Before joining MIT, Jose received a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from ICAI in Madrid, Spain.
We will continue to follow MIT’s COVID protocols.
